Winter Break

With the winter break fast approaching, what are you most excited about? Does your family have any specials plans for the break? What do you most enjoy about this time of year (besides having time off of school)? Is it spending time with family and friends, it is just hanging out, or is there something that your family always does during the break.

Figurative Language

Idioms, palindromes, similes, metaphors, oxymorons,.....etc.  Figurative Language makes what we say and write more descriptive.  What is your favorite figure of speech or type of figurative language?  Why do you enjoy using it?  What would stories be like without figurative language?  If you can think of a new palindrome phrase or riddle, then share it with us.

Which ruler????

Which Mesopotamian ruler would you have liked to have met or been alive at the same time as his rule? What do you think made him a good ruler? Choose from Sargon, Gilgamesh, Hammurabi, Ashurbanipal or any other one that we studied in our Social Studies book.

Keeping in touch this summer

The summer is very near and I am sure that everyone has some great adventures (both big and small) planned for the next couple of months. Trying to stay in touch can be difficult, so through out the summer check back on the blog and let us know what you are up to and also check in and see what everyone else is doing as well. As we get closer to the end of the school year, think back to everything that we have done and accomplished so far this year. What has been the most interesting, exciting, radiant thing or things that we have done? What really blew your mind away and wish that you could do again?

Or what did you learn about yourself this year and amazed yourself because you didn't think that you could do something?

What is your very favorite song or genre of music? If you like more than one of each of these, you can list more than one. What makes the song or genre of music your favorite? If you could see any musical performer in a live performance, who would it be and why?

If you could have been any sports figure from history, who would you want to have been?

Why would you want to be that person? What is it about that person that made them famous and makes you wish that you could have been them? What is it that they are famous for and why do people still remember them to this day?

Laughter:)

What makes you laugh? Please respond by sharing the funniest thing that has happened to you or that you've seen happen. Keep in mind that humor is in the eye of the beholder. What is funny to one person may not be funny to someone else. Have appropriate discretion when you share. This means to keep the topics school appropriate and avoid using other people's names. Think before you write! If you would rather share a joke you think is funny, this is fine. Again, make sure it is appropriate!

Everyone has been affected by texting in some way. You have either texted someone, read a text, heard someone use "Text Talk" or seen a commercial about texting. In this week's blog, think about texting you have seen or heard.

What is your favorite "text phrase"? For example, mine is "lol" because it really describes what you are doing. I think it is much better than "ha ha" which is what many people used to write to describe the same thing. When I see "lol" I can really picture the person with their head thrown back, mouth open and "laughing out loud"! If you've made up a "text phrase" and would like to share it you may do so. You can also write your blog response in "text talk". Just make sure to follow the directions as far as length and computer etiquette.

Who would you want to be?

If you could live the life of any fictional character, which character would it be?

Explain why you would want to be that character and how you would benefit from being that character.

How was your Spring Break?

What did you do for the week off? What did you really enjoy about the break? Did you do anything that was really awesome?
