Winter Break is almost here:)

WINTER BREAK

As winter break fast approaches, what are you most looking forward to?
Is it spending time with family, a vacation that you are going on, or something else?
Explain why this is important to you and why you can't wait for it to happen.

I don't want to hear about a gift that you are wishing for, I want to know more meaningful items.
Take your time and think about things that are special to you and why you are looking forward to them.

EXPLORING THE WORLD

In social studies we have been talking about explorers. They went out in search of new areas of the world in order to bring back tea, spices, and other riches to their country.
Why was it important for countries to get out and stake claim to land for their king or queen? Why did they need such skilled sailors, navigators and map makers on the expeditions?

Please be complete in your answer and you can always agree or disagree with what others have already stated and continue your thinking from their response.

????Riddles????

Riddles are a great way to stretch out thinking and to think outside of the box.

See if you can figure out the answer to the following riddles.
Don't post the answer so that everyone has the same chance to figure them out.

What is the best riddle that you know? Post it and see if your classmates can answer it.

Riddles:
What gets wetter and wetter the more that it dries?
A man rode into town on Monday, he stayed for three days and left on Friday. How is that possible?

Why is it important to do riddles, puzzles, board games, cards games, etc.?

Kindness Retreat (ICI)

Kindness is a small thing that can not be measured until it is given to you by someone else. It matters a lot in how you interact with each other and how you show kindness to others.

Last week we attended the Kindness Retreat. I thought that it was a wonderful day of throwing out kindness to others in our grade level. To follow up with the idea of using ICI (Interrupt, Compliment, Invite Away) if you see something happening that you don't think is appropriate.

Let's write a story. . . In your post write a story in which you help a classmate get away from the bully using ICI. Choose a setting: Perhaps you are out on the playground, in the lunchroom, or on the bus.

Remember, don't use any real names of students in our class or in 5th grade. Practicing these 3 steps to be a hero will help you do this in real life. Go for it!!!!!
