With the start of the new year and decade, I have started to hear a lot of controversy over how we should pronounce the year.
Do you think that we should say "Two thousand and ten" or should it be "Twenty Ten"? Why do you think that we should say it one way or the other.
Remember your professional language.
Miss P
I think the new year should be pronounced
ReplyDelete"twenty ten" because it is a lot shorter than saying it the other way. But overall, it doesn't really matter how you pronounce the year. No one would be affected by which way you pronounce the year.
I think it should be twenty ten because it's shorter and easier to say. I also like it because it sounds like we are in the 21 centry. But I dont think it would matter because we are in the same year no matter how we say it.
ReplyDeleteI think that people should call it "Twenty Ten" because it is shorter and you can say it easier. It is still the same year no matter how you say it, so it dosn't really matter.
ReplyDeleteI think this year should be called twenty ten because if you say two thousand and ten then it would sound like 2,000.10( like Miss Preston says, saying and makes it a decimal).
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alek, Grace, and Abby that saying twenty ten is easier to say. But it also sounds really cool like we're talking in a more advanced way. But it doesn't really matter what way you say it because its you're decision.
ReplyDeleteI also think more people would say twenty ten, at least in the U.S.A.
ReplyDeleteI agree, that two thousand and ten sounds better than twenty ten, and probaly looks better too. I think that if we did a count of all the people that live in the U.S.A.were to pick from two thousand and ten, or twenty ten, more people would probaly pick two thousand and ten, than twenty ten.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be said two thousand ten. Ever since the year two thousand most people have said it this why. So to be consistent I think it should be the same.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be pronounced two thousand ten because it is in the two thousands. Even though twenty ten can be pronounced the same way as two thousand ten it just sounds weird and we are all used to saying two thousand ten instead of twenty ten. And it just sounds better.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be pronounced twenty ten becuase it is easier to say. Also twenty ten meens the same thing as two-thousand and ten but twenty ten is shorter. It doesn't really matter how you say it. It's your own choice but I think it does sound a little bit more advanced than two-thousand ten.
ReplyDeleteI think that 2010 should be pronounced two thousand and ten because it makes more sence. I think when you say twenty ten it sounds like you are actually saying twenty ten. Two thousand and ten sounds more like profetional language.Whitch way is better for you is at your free will.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be pronounced twenty ten because it is shorter and it souds the same as when characters in horror movies say it.
ReplyDeleteI think we should pronounce it two thousand ten because that's how we've been pronouncing our 2000 year every year! Like last year was two thousand nine not twenty zero nine! It's just a new year not a new century. Also it's still in the thousands and when we say a number in math don't we say thousand not say all of the numbers? Maybe in 3000 it will be called three zero zero zero!!! :)
ReplyDeleteCourteney,
ReplyDeleteYou are right that Miss P says and makes it have a decimal but usually people would say two thousand ten when they say it not write it.
I think it could be pronounced either way but I think twenty ten sounds alot better. Also it doesn't really matter because it is still spelled the same way.
ReplyDeleteI think we should call it tow-thousand ten. Why would we change it now. I mean seriously. I think we should say two-thousan ten. I really don't care what way we say it I just think we shouldn't change it.
ReplyDeleteSorry i spelled two wrong the first time.
ReplyDeleteI think it doesn't really matter because some people like to call it twenty ten or two thousand ten. Also no matter which way you say it,is the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be pronouced twenty ten. I think it easier to say. I like it better than two-thousand ten because it sounds different than what we're used to.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be to thousand ten not tewnty ten. people have and will say 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 and so on. That is why i think that it should be to thousand ten
ReplyDeleteI don't know so I going with both. So who ever said both you rock!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it should be called twenty ten. I think its quicker to say twenty ten. Maybe if you were texting someone and they wrote what year is it? you would respond Twenty ten or two thousand ten.Doesn't twenty ten sound better.
ReplyDeleteI know it should be called two thousand and 10 because its more professional and it sounds more like a year not 20 dollars 10 cents and by the way we never said two hundred 9
ReplyDeleteI think it should be caled either one because twenty ten is shorter to say, but two thousand ten sounds more professinal.
ReplyDeleteI think it should be called 20 and 10 because it sounds more newer I think it sounds more now.
ReplyDeleteI think it is two thousand ten too me it mack more sens
ReplyDeleteI think that you can say it either way and it doesn't really make a difference because they mean the same thing. I agree with saying "Twenty Ten" because it is shorter. I also agree with saying "Two thousand ten" though because it sounds better and it is more proper.
ReplyDeletei think is 2 thousand to me it makes more sense to me. israel
