Birthday or Holiday???

Would you rather skip Hanukkah or Christmas this year or skip your birthday this year?

Why did you choose the one you did? Make sure you explain and add detail to your reason.

Answer should be at least 6 sentences in length.

  1. I would rather skip Hanukkah than any other part because I don't really celebrate it. All of the other things I do. I would keep my birthday because I love celebrating it. I also love celebrating Christmas. That is why I chose Hanukkah.

    1. Spencer, you were supposed to choose something that you DO celebrate!

    2. I would rather skip my birthday than Christmas. I would do that because I like Christmas more than my birthday because I think Christmas starts the day after thanksgiving, that's when I put up the tree, and it lasts the entire month of December. My birthday........ Not so much. Also Christmas has so many traditions for different people. Plus pretty much everybody loves Santa. That is why I like Christmas more than my birthday.

    3. I would rather skip my birthday because I like Christmas more. For me Christmas starts the day after thanksgiving+ the month of December. My birthday....... not so much. Christmas also has a lot of traditions for me. It is also the day Crist was born. And most everybody loves Santa. That is why I think Christmas is better.

  2. This is a tough one for me. Because my birthday and Christmas are so close, my family members try to combine the amount of presents. But I think we forgot the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas was the day that Christ was born. On Christmas you are supposed to be happy to just give, not, "I gave them a present so why didn't they give me one?!?!" So in total I'm not sure I like this blog question. But to answer it, I would rather skip my birthday. My family and I are pretty serious Christians.

  3. I would rather skip Hanukkah because I do not really celebrate it. Also because it is not my most favorite holiday. Then I love to celebrate my birthday. It is because that is the day I was born. I would not like to not celebrate my birthday. Then I love to celebrate Christmas.

    1. If you celebrate Christmas, you don't need to say you would rather skip Hanukkah if you don't celebrate it.

  4. I would rather skip my birthday. I would rather skip my birthday because christmas is a lot more fun. Christmas is a lot of fun because you get to put up the christmas tree and put ornaments on the tree. Christmas is also a lot more fun because you get tons of more presents. Christmas is also better than my birthday because christmas comes 2 months earlier than my birthday. That's why I would rather skip my birthday than christmas.

  5. I would skip my birthday instead of Hanukkah. On Hanukkah it is 8 days of fun, family, and presents. Plus on my birthday it is just celebrating me but on Hanukkah it is every Jew. Plus on Hanukkah I get a lot of family time. For those who do not realize on Hanukkah gifts are optional. Not every family gives presents. But my family gives out presents. Hanukkah Rocks!

  6. I would rather skip my birthday. I would not want to skip Christmas because, to me, it's not just about the presants it's a day where I celebrate the lord. The fact that I get to spend time with my family just brings joy to my heart. I think it's like choosing friends over family, (I would choose family though). I love celebrating my birthday but I have skiped my birthday before. My family just celebrated it on my dads birthday which is 4 days after mine. It's up to YOU to choose!

  7. I would rather skip the holiday. We celebrate Christmas in Japan. But the New Year is more important. Furthermore, my birthday is January 6 and it comes just after the New Year holidays. Honestly, there is a slight difference for me in skipping of my birthday or the holiday.

  8. I would rather skip my Christmas. I chose that becuase I get my phone on birthday. I need a phone. But I still want christmas becuase I am hoping I can get an Ipad mini. But my birthday over rules it. You can get all the same stuff on Christmas for your birthday. So it doesn't really matter either one. But me, I like my birthday better.

  9. I would rather skip my birthday this year because my birthday is December 5th (20 days away from Christmas). So I could just double up on Christmas presents and count half of them for my birthday. Christmas you also have a full day of activity, which includes opening presents and having a huge feast. Also, the day before Christmas, my Dad's side of the family has a huge celebration. And on Christmas we spend a lot of time on homework. Also my Birthday is easy to make up for.

  10. I would rather skip Christmas because I have lots of fun on my birthday. For an example, we went to Hawaii once. While we were there we went to a restaurant that they cooked in front of us. It was pretty awesome. We also went to a clam stand that you get to pick out clams. Then they open them for you. I got 2 pearls! They made them into a necklace for me. Another time we went pottery painting. We went to a water park another time. Oh, and we sometimes we go bowling. The most important event that happens during both Christmas and my birthday is making memories that will last forever.

  12. I would skip my birthday. I would because I get to see my cousins that live in Indiana and my grandparents that live in Kentucky. I get to see my grandparents that live out here basically every week! Another reason I would choose skipping my birthday would be that I did not have a very good birthday this year because one of the people that came wanted to leave. I also really like Christmas because we get a couple weeks off. My family usually goes to Kentucky or Indiana. I love Christmas!!! Alexis :) ;) :/ ;/ :D ;D :p ;p

  13. I would rather skip Christmas. I would because on my birthday I could go to any place that I wanted for a party or have a sleepover. I would also have my friends over with me. Another reason why is because my birthday is more about me and it was the day I was born. The main reason why I wouldn't skip Christmas is because I mostly spend it with my family. Even though Christmas is my favorite holiday and it's a very important day, I would still skip it and have my birthday instead.

  15. I would rather skip my birthday because I don't usually do much for it. I just have a few of my friends and have a sleepover. For Christmas, I get so many presents and all of my mom and dad's friends come over. Plus, my dad cooks a huge meal for about 35-40 people. My dad and I also chose a weird food to cook for everyone. Last year it was purple potatoes. It's become a tradition, now.

  16. I would rather skip my Birthday Party because we don't do a big celebration. And because all of my BEST BEST BEST friends are in Texas and wont get to celebrate with me.:( I like christmas because when you give the presents to people, it makes me feel good. And because it is also nice to recive gifs too. We are always with are friends and family from Michigan, Minnesota, Ney York, Tennesse, and Europe! I don't get to see them very often, so it's nice to see them at Christmas.

  17. I would rather skip Hanukkah because it lasts 8 days/nights and you cant eat everything you want. You cant eat certain things like bread. I do love Hanukkah but i do like my birthday ALOT better. And I also love having birthday parties and for Hanukkah you dont do that. And for Hanukkah we have to go to temple and I HATE going!!

  18. I would rather skip my birthday this year. The reason is because we should never skip the celebration of Jesus' birthday. Another reason is because I am going to be 13 on my next birthday, and I don't think it will be a fun birthday for me. I say that because I am choosing not to have birthday party. That is because I think birthday parties are overrated. The last reason I would rather skip my birthday than Christmas is because I will probably get all of the presents that I want for Christmas so there would be nothing to ask for, for my birthday.

  19. If I had to choose one I would have to skip my birthday because Jesus matters more than my birthday. I would also choose this because I still get a lot of presents anyway. Like seriously, more than enough! Christmas is about your family and friends joining together to celebrate the birth of Jesus. My birthday is celebrating only me and only presents for me. I just want everyone to be happy rather than have me be happy and only me get presents. I love the smile on peoples faces when they see their present too!

  20. I would rather skip my birthday because I don't want to get any older than what I am. Not just that, it's also because I go to church and spend some time with God, and Jesus. It is Jesus birthday. His birthday is way to important for my birthday. I am not in it for the presents, it's because I get to gather with my family and hang out.I would rather go and skip my birthday.

  21. I would rather skip my birth day. I would skip my birth day instead of Christmas because my birth day would be all about me. I don't want it to be all about me. I want it to be about everybody. Wouldn't that be selfish though. I mean to people that are more religious than I am more that's Jesus's birth day.

  22. If I had to choose I would choose to skip my birthday. I would choose this because Jesus birthday is much more important than mine. And you still get presents! And instead of you just being happy you get to see your whole family be happy! In my opinion Christmas is more fun that your birthday too because you get to see everyone smiling and having a great time!

  23. If I absolutely had to choose, I'd choose toskip my birthday. I'd choose to skip my birthday because each year the amount of presents goes down. At Christmas I get a truckload of presents. Also we get to decorate the tree and hang light. Making cookies for santa is my favorite part because there are always extra. I would miss my birthday but we could celebrate my half birthday instead. Would that technically be cheating? NAA

  24. I'd choose to skip my birthday, because I think christmas is better than my birthday. If I did skip my birthday, I wouldn't care that I'd be eleven for the first few months of seventh grade. On the holidays, you get to spend time with your relatives, and decorate christmas trees. Plus, it would be nice to be a year younger than I should be. It's always nice to go to your christmas tree in the morning to see what you got, and what others got. If it weren't hot in Arizona, then you could go outside and build a snowman, have snowball fights, and go sledding.

  25. I would rather skip my birthday. I would because then I wouldn't get as many presents. Like Christmas, Valentines Day, Halloween, ect, I would get candy/presents. Because I wouldn't to really hang out with my friends on my birthday because I would want to hang out with my family. On Halloween I would be able to hang out with my best friends all night. Maybe not all night because we have school the next day!

  28. I would rather skip my birthday. I have happier memories on christmas then on my birthday. If it was any other holiday I would chose my birthday. My christmases get better every year. Also it has a deeper meaning than just about a date. It's about giving and being with your family.

  29. I would much rather skip my birthday because Christmas is two days and your birthday is only one. Another reason why is because of how you get more family time on Christmas Eve and day. Another reason why is because of the presents you get that gets doubled from the presents that you get from your family members and friends. In all I just think christmas is more fun. YAY

  30. I'd rather skip my birthday because Christmas is when my whole family meets up and most of them live in Kansas! So when Christmas comes, my family get so excited because we hardly ever see each other anymore. Yeah pretty awesome too but Christmas is even better! You get gifts for both so why be afraid of skipping one? I take spending time with my family very seriously, we hardly ever see each other once a year! So yes, I'd rather skip my birthday than Christmas.

  31. I would rather skip my birthday for many reasons.
The first reason I would skip my birthday is because on Christmas my entire can get together and be happy.
And of course you get things. Another reason why is because everyone is happy and not all mad at everyone, no one is happy on my birthday other than me,or the people with the same birthday as me. Even though on your birthday you get to see your friends and go places, Christmas just feels more jolly and not gloomy.

  34. I would not skip Christmas because my birth day is in November. So if I skip Christmas I would miss almost a year of my life. Plus I get more presents if I don't skip Christmas. I forgot to say; I would also miss family time during Christmas. Who would want to miss out on that? Remember Christmas isn't all about gifts.

  35. I would rather miss my birthday than Christmas. I don't say this because I want more presents, but because Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of God which I am a Christian so Christmas is very special to me. Also Christmas is a time to spend with your family. My family has a tradition that of Christmas Eve we all open 1 gift from our parents. I love Christmas!

  37. I, would rather skip my birthday because on my birthday it's all about me. I only get the presents and it costs a lot of time and money to set up. On Christmas, though, presents are spread around and I get to have all my family in one place for one in a long time. I'm not only the one getting presents, we all are. And, on Christmas, since it's my family, they'll hopefuly know what I want the most for presents. On my birthday, the presents are unpredictable and usually not what you have always wanted. Plus, you get more presents on CHristmas than your birthday, usually. Best of all, it's winter at CHristmas, unlike my June birthday.
