Why do you think that it is important that we still celebrate MLK Day?
Why does his speech that he gave over 40 years ago still have meaning to us today? Why is it important that we keep it in mind that we can settle disagreements with words and not violence?
What can you do to help spread peace in your family, neighborhood, at school or anywhere else?
I think MLK day is important because the speech Martin Luther King JR. gave was so important because he was not talking just to the African Americans but to everyone. I think that it is still remembered now even though it has been 40 years because it has a good message. People should not be racist because black people and white people are pretty much the same. Just because we have a different skin color does not mean they are not human. They are really nice people. Dogs and cats are different colors, that does not mean we should treat the black cats different than the white cats. They are still cats! In my family I can help spread peace by letting my cousins pick the TV show instead of me and Jessica. Even though they don't pay attention to anything anyway!!!!! In my community we can help spread peace by being nice and quiet at night when there are kids sleeping. In school we can help spread peace by letting someone use your pencil if they need one, or just little small kind things. I think Mr.King is a really courageous and AMAZING man.

DeleteI believe that it is important to honor Dr.Martin Luther King because he stopped segregation in the United States. He worked to make equal rights for all people so they had freedom. His speech is still has impact today because he taught people not to point out each other's difference but like each other as they are. It is good to keep in mind that we can settle disagreements with peaceful words. Violence leads to injuries and death and just makes the problem worse. I can spread peace in my family by complementing someone every and working out disagreements with not losing my temper. I think it is important to celebrate M.L. K. day because we want to remember the famous I Had a Dream speech and the positive impact on this country. He told everyone not to use segregation. His message was to have peace between blacks and whites. It is important to settle arguments by words because you never want to go to violence. That is why M.L.K day is a day to remember. ReplyDeleteIt is important that we Celebrate Mlk day because its a very important time in history and helped get rid of racism for the most part. His speech is the reason other races are snot fighting. If he had not given a speech all races would have a difficult time getting along. If we settled things in violence fights would be on the streets and the world would be very messed up. One way you can be more peaceful is to help all other people. ryan hanover

I think his speech he said 40 years ago has meaning to us because everybody thought what he said was true. I think it is important we can settle things without violence because we don't have to hurt anyone. I also think we can settle things without violence because no one should get hurt by deciding on one thing. What I can do to help spread peace is to offer stuff to other people.

I think MLK day is important to celebrate because he helped stop racism. His speech was very well said and very well put. It was very brave of him to stand up and do the speech. Everything he said was true as well. The speech has a very good message too. It does not matter what you look like. We are all human. His dream was not to fly or to have a pony, it was that everybody should be treated equally. It was very generous of him not to just dream for himself. We need to settle things without any violence. ReplyDeleteDr Martin Luther Kings speech that he gave over 40 years ago was special and still teaches us today that everyone is the same and its not what you look like but how you act. Settling arguments with words is important because violence means harm and someone might be badly injured using words is a way to say why you like this idea and you will understand what it means. I can spread peace in my family by telling my brother when I am mad at him and not just blow up in his face the second or third time but just tell him I mean it.

It is important we celebrate martin luther king jr day because he stopped the black and white people's hatred between them. Also he changed the world. He made everyone able to play with each other no matter what skin color. I have a little thing to say about the black and white revolution thing "people are people dont judge them bye looks or colors it's not like they have diseases that can kill you." Another reason why we should celebrate this is because he is an important person to the world then go murdered for it, just like abraham lincoln. The speech that he wrote was written like 40 years ago and it still means something today! First of all MLK JR. said a speech that is special and long! And second of all he said it doesn't what color you have because it's all about the personalities! It's how you would act and not about how you look because looks doesn't matter it's what's inside that would count! He STOPPED SEGREGATION! He stood up to the world and said his great, marvelous, brave speech! If Martin Luther King JR. didn't say that speech about the colors doesn't matter speech our colors would still matter! Thanks to him for saying that awesome speech! I also think to help make peace I think the world should stand up and say something! I also think if people want to be mean or be rude try to say something to an adult or a parent or a teacher! That's their problem if thy want to be rude!

We should also celebrate it because he was not a man of few words and he was not a shy person he was the guy to be on the stage in front of billions of people. His speech still means to us because he said "he had a dream" and when you say that he did have a dream a dream to make freedom and peace to the world. It is important to settle with words and not violence because it will make the whole intire problem worse than expected. Also because when you do violence you can get in trouble for example go to jail the government and you can also get sued. It is important to aleays be nice and caring in stead of violence. How I can make peace to my school is NO MORE BULLYING!!! and no more pushing, mean and cruel words. Also to my my house I can ring peace by giving nice warm attitude and no mean ones. What I can give to my neighborhood is let everyone play with everyone witch means if you are black or brown or white or even purple you should always play together. ReplyDeleteIt is important we still celebrate MLK day because he stopped segregation in the U.S.A. Also, Martin Luther King changed the world in many different ways. He changed it by having blacks not have to sit in the back of the bus and that should be treated equal. He believed that people should not be judged by the color of their skin. I can help out in my community and school by being kind to others and by not judging others. This is why that famous speech over 40 years ago will never be forgotten and always be a part of history.

ReplyDeleteI believe that it is important to celebrate MLK day because it honors the day that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stopped segregation for all the people in the U.S. either black or white. His speech still gives us meaning after 40 years because the words that he spoke were passionate and honest for all of the world to hear. Plus he was courageous enough to even speak it to the public. It is always important to solve problems with word rather than violence because words can't hurt you physically but can mentally and violence will just make things worse. One way you can spread peace is doing peace yourself and influencing the people around you. Plus you can do things to others that make them feel good and spread it one to other people. ReplyDeleteI think it is important to celebrate M.L.K Day because we have to honor him for what he did when he spoke about what he thought. His speech has a meaning because it reminds us that we should treat everyone equally even if they are different color, type, etc. He helped the world in many ways mostly by doing his speech. It is important that we keep in mind that we use words instead of violence because words can be very powerful if you use them correct. If it wasn't for him, there would still probably lots of racism. Martin was a very brave and honorable person for what he did and how we responded.

I think it is important to celebrate MLK day because it stopped segregation and if we did not here that speech we would probably still have segregation today. The speech is remember from 40 years ago because it inspired others and helped people be friends even if they are white or black. Martin Luther king Jr. is a man of braveness and he is awesome for going up there and speaking. If I was up there I would probably faint because I would be so nerves and so many people would be watching. I cant believe he is so intelligent that he used words instead of punching and fighting. I like martin Luther king Jr. because it inspires me to rot be raciest and we are lucky we could be friends with black people because I have people out of school that are black and they are funny.

We celebrate MLK DAY is because he was part of the civil rights. Martin opposed segregation of black and white in places such as restaurants and busses. Martin also changed some history of racism. He had a speech "I HAVE A DREAM" inspired others to act upon racism. Mr. King Jr. helped future generations by taking away segregation. I think he was brave going up and saying his speech. He did this bravely saying what he believed in. Martin is remembered as a leader in the civil rights fight of the 60's and 70's.

We still celebrate Martin Luther King Day because he helped end segregation. Now African Americans and Americans can eat at the same restaurants, or play in the same baseball league! In my opinion, segregation was the worst thing to happen to our county since slavery. Martin Luther King's I Have a Dream speech still has meaning today because all people are equal, no matter what the color of their skin is. It is important to keep in mind that we can settle disagreements with words, not violence, because violence leads to an uprising, and an uprising leads to a war.

We still celebrate MLK day because he was a hero and changed history for everyone. Dr. King was a hero he changed every thing he stopped the separation of the black people and the white people he was a good man. Dr. King changed history stopping the separation from the black and white was the change he made and we will always remember him in our heart. He also was a hero because he was one of the biggest help to stop racism. I will always remember him and I hope you will too. I think if people are racist in other countries someone should try to be a Martin Luther King Jr. in there country. Thank you for turning the world upside down. I will always remember him.

ReplyDeleteWe still celebrate Martin Luther King Day because he was the reason why slavery ended! Martin was the one that had a dream. King inspired everyone to have a dream of something good to happen. I don't understand why someone had to assassinate him because he was a good man and he was very brave and very encouraging he was a wonderful person that had so much hope and liberty to the world and was very important person and was very intelligent and we all loved him. Martin Luther King said that color doesn't matter and that is incredible! Martin said that brave speech like about 40 years ago and it still matter! He said a speech that blew everyone's mind!
